WEBINAR: AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER (ASD) in GIRLS - Recognising and understanding the female phenotype

 

 

Webinar involving a presentation and discussion about the female presentation of ASD, a subtype of autism that has been identified within verbal girls and women. Workshop will be delivered by Dr Ríon O’Farrell-Walsh, a clinical psychologist with experience in diagnosing and working therapeutically with individuals with autism. She has a special interest in understanding how presentations of autism can vary between boys and girls, and how this can shape the assessment and diagnosis process.

Learning Outcomes:

•A greater and broadened understanding of how autism can look different between the genders. •Skills in being better able to recognise autism in verbal girls, a profile that can often look different to how male children present. Skills in how to support the female child with autism who may be ‘keeping it all inside.’
